    SIR ALEXANDER STEWART, of Garlies, who was in great favour with JAMES IV., and who fell with his royal master at the fatal battle of Flodden, 9 Sept. 1513. He left by his wife, Elizabeth Kennedy, one son and sixteen daughters., the eldest of whom, Janet, was married to Sir John Kennedy, of Culzean, and each of the others became the wife of a laird of distinction. Sir Alexander was survived by his only son, .SIR ALEXANDER STEWART
