Rural Fayette, Mo. resident, Gail Mounter, 79, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Gail Frances Mounter was born January 13, 1941 in Boonville, Mo., a daughter to the late John Monroe and Margaret A. (Thoma) Edwards. She graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1958. On September 10, 1961, Gail married the love of her life, Charles “Don” Mounter. Together, they’ve enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Gail worked as a receptionist in the healthcare industry. She worked for Dr.’s Leech and Dean at the local clinic in Fayette for a number of years retiring in 1997. Gail was involved in the community and was an active member of the Harriett Lawrence Garden Club, PEO and the Fayette First Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Don Mounter, of the home; two daughters, Sarah (Ralph Horne) Mounter of Columbia, Mo. and Mary (Jim) Lay of Franklin, Mo.; two grandsons, Ethan and Nicholas Lay; two sisters, Ann Edwards and Dixie (Allen) Richey, both of Columbia, Mo. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside will be 11 AM, Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Fayette City Cemetery with Rev. Harold Young officiating.
