  Biography Giollachriosd (Gilchrist) was a son of Conn Ciconntach O'Cahan, the first to assume the family name of O'Cahan as a surname. [1] The Ó Catháin, meaning "descendants of Cahan", were a sept of the Cenél nEógain branch of the Northern Uí Néill [2] The first known O'Ceanns held a family seat in Derry, Ulster, Ireland from at least the 10th. century.
