  Separated from the healthy persons were bedridden patients, in modern linguistic usage called "siech," who were housed in their own infirmary. In the sources, the infirmary of the hospital appears as a "poor" or "nursery", in Franconia also as "Sutte". Thus, in 1403 the merchant Konrad Kumpf donated two beds for the hospital in Windsheim, "which were to be occupied with sick people."
