    He and his brother Emil Sr., were merchants and ran the Kouba Bros. store in Luzerne, IA for 45 years. He graduated from Epworth Seminary (Methodist) in 1999. They were two members of a men's quartet in the Blairstown, IA, Methodist Episcopal church. The other two members of the quartet were the Meiners brothers. William was the Luzerne, IA postmaster for many years. He is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown, IA. He graduated from Epworth Academy, Epworth, Iowa in 1899. He was postmaster at Luzerne for 42 years, retiring in December 1944.

    William married Rosburg, Amanda Elizabeth Susana on 9 Nov 1902 in Blairstown, Benton, Iowa, USA.     Friday A.M.
    Dear Leora,
    We had word from Virginia that you had a _____ & do hope you checked with the Dr. and are feeling OK. I had to go back to the Hospital for a few days so have to wait for COBALT until I heal a little bit more. Feel fine. We have a nice apt. so are comfortable.
    Lillian wrote such a nice letter & also had a nice card from George Kettler. So pleased to hear from them.
    Jr. called from Los Angeles Tues Eve. Was on business for Emerson. Aunt Laura had gone to Marcellas, he said.
    Armie is going to drive to El Paso to pick up the new station wagon. The Ft. Worth office will bring it that far. Will leave Mon. and return Thursday.
    Will be anxious to hear how you are feeling. Do hope you have some one staying with you.

    Wilson R. Kouba, a much loved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 90 Thursday July 16, 2009 at St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
    Memorial service will be 10:00am Saturday July 18, 2009 at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Rev. Laurie Riley will officiate at the service.     Surviving is his wife Virginia; 3 children Keith (Becky) of Marion, Craig (Robin) of Fargo, North Dakota and Mary Ann (Larry) of Laytonville, CA; 7 grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Chi, Sara, Cassandra, Mackenzie and Samantha; He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Wilson was born March 31, 1919 to William and Amanda Kouba of Luzerne, Iowa. He attended Cornell College and graduated from College of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa. Wilson and Virginia Blocher were married April 25, 1942. Wilson served as a Pharmacist Mate in WWII. After working in Leon, Iowa and Humboldt, Iowa he bought the pharmacy in Anamosa in 1949 where he had a long and happy career at Kouba Pharmacy. While on Main Street Wilson was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce; Methodist Church; Anamosa Hospital; Fawn Creek Country Club and a Scout Leader to list some.

    Wilson married Blocher, Virginia on 25 Apr 1942 in First United Methodist Church, De Witt, Clinton, Iowa, USA. Virginia (daughter of Blocher, Frank) was born on 23 Feb 1921 in Vinton, Benton, Iowa, USA; died on 1 Jan 2020 in Anamosa, Jones, Iowa, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Pam called Virginia Kouba a month later on 16 Dec 1999 with news of his death. He died of a sudden heart attack. He died on Friday, and had a small service on Monday morning.
