The house is a clay and lattice framework. It size is due to the so-call Tropical House and stands with the gable side facing towards Wiedhausen. Each apartment was composed of three rooms which were occasionally occupied by 13 people. In the separate annexes or sheds were timber yards, a goat, pigsty and ? house. In the church records for the death of Johann Ludwig Thomæ it lists his survivors. It lists his two sons Lorenz and Lorenz; five daughters Anna Margaretha, Barbara, Margaretha Barbara, and Dorothea. It the church records it lists a Lorenz Thomæ Sr. and a Lorenz Thomæ, Jr. While I have always thought this to be a father son relationship, it is not. Instead it refers to the two Lorenzs in the same family.

But then I noticed that, in 1853 and 1854, the Regierungs- und Intelligenzblatt für das Herzogthum Coburg [Admininstrative and Intelligence Bulletin for the Duchy of Coburg] was running announcements about the people who were leaving Sonnefeld, Frohnlach and Ebersdorf for "Nordamerika". On Issue No. 66, Saturday, 19 August 1854, it mentioned two of your ancestors, side by side, on the same page. I've attached for you the copy of the top halves of the two pages in the original German. Here is the English translation of the following announcements:

Carl F. Brockman, 53, was found dead at his home in New Bloomfield Wednesday. He apparently died Tuesday of a heart attack. Mr. Brockman was born in Columbia, Dec. 23, 1906, the son of John and Margaret Thoma Brockman. He spent his early life in Jefferson City and attended city schools there.

He worked in Jefferson City as a bookkeeper until ill health forced his retirement.

Survivors include: two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Vogenitz and Mrs. Frances Campbell, both of Washington, D.C.; and four brothers, Jake Brockman, Jefferson City, David Brockman, Holts Summit, Robert Brockman, New Blooomfield, Roy Brockman, Groom, Tex.

Mr. Brockman was a member of the Evangelical Church.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in a local funeral home. The Rev. W.P. Arnold will officiate. Burial will be in Evangelical Cemetery.

Lawrence Edward Thoma, 84, of Boonville died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at his home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at William Wood Funeral Home in Boonville with the Rev. Jon Thoma officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home.

Mr. Thoma was born April 12, 1914, in Boonville to Lawrence and Agnes Duvall Thoma. He married Pearl Friedrich on June 4, 1937, in Boonville, and she preceded him in death.

He was a superintendent at MFA Elevator and a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include five sons, Gary Thoma, Jon Thoma and Robert Thoma, all of Boonville, Ronald Thoma of Jefferson City and James Thoma of Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Margaret Edwards of Fayette; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A sister preceded him in death.

She graduated from Laura Speed Elliot High School in Boonville here she was a member of the National Honor Society. She received the DAR History Medal and three scholarships. Charlene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Boonville and was the Superintendent of the Primary Department for fifteen years with a perfect attendance record. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the American Women’s Club. Charlene was employed as bookkeeper at Viertel’s Storage garage until fire destroyed the business. She later became employed with the Boonville Daily News as bookkeeper/officer manager for 35 years, 2 months and 5 days and retired in March, 1987.

Charlene is survived by Barry, Ann and Cameron Thoma, Frederick, MD; Russ and Tina Thoma, LaGrange, GA, Jonathan Thoma , Tracie Harris, Boonville; Helen Thoma-Garcia, Cindy Thoma-Wilt, Jeffery and Joe Cleveland, NM; Alvera Baslee, Boonville; Eddie and Jo Haller, Boonville, Thomas and Gina Loesing; Becky Thoma, Tara Loesing and Teri Loesing, Boonville.

In 1995, she married Joel C. Mead in Kansas City, Mo, at the Red Bridge Methodist Church. He preceded her in death, in May of 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Anna Marshall Schupp and her husband Glenn, of Pilot Grove, Mo; one sister Joann Lowe and her husband Bill of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two cousins, Betty Lou Stock and husband Tom of West Plains, Mo and Linda Robb of Fayette. She is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

June graduated from Boonville High School in 1951, and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. She lived in Boonville until 1967, then at Blackwater until 1979. She worked at Kemper Military School from 1985 to 1995, in the business office. She was a life-long member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church, Boonville.

June was preceded in death by her mother and father.

June enjoyed life; she loved her family, friends, gardening, and flowers, but most of all she loved her Brittany Spaniel dog, Abbee, who also preceded her in death.

The celebration of life for June will begin at 2: p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Howard Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Inurnment to follow in Walnut Grove.

She hobbied at making and selling crafts, exhibiting those at craft shows and the Missouri State Fair. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Schlotzhauer is survived at home by her husband of 43 years, Gene Schlotzhauer; two sons, Mike Schlotzhauer of Smithton and Steve Schlotzhauer of St Peters; two sisters, Betty Jean Carpenter and Nancy Jane Lane, both of Sedalia; and two grandsons, Taylor and George Schlotzhauer.

A celebration of life will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Friday May 11, 2007, from 4-6 p.m. followed with a eulogy by Pastor Jamie Page. Private burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery at a later date.

He was born in Boonville April 6, 1948, to M.R and Geneva Lewis Thoma. While growing up, Bob enjoyed competition in scale model car building, then later in the Show Pony Arena and helping his father in the Thoma Standard Drug Store.

He attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo,. for three years, then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1969. He married Susie Vemer-Jones of Columbia, Mo., on April 16, 1978, and moved their family to Colorado Springs, Colo., where he was service manager for Daniels Chevrolet for 10 years, then business manager for Amoco Stores. He and his family enjoyed participation in weekend racing three-wheelers on dirt and ice along with exploring the Rocky Mountains. He served as Cub and Boy Scout leader. He missed hometown living and returned to Boonville in 1990 where he was owner of Thoma Quality Lawn Care.

Mr. Thoma is survived by his wife Susie of the home, sons Chad Thoma of Boonville, Robert Thoma of Tampa, Fla., and Shawn Jones of Colonial Heights, Va.; daughter Monica Myers of Bunceton, Mo.; seven grand-children; a brother-in-law, Ken Rall of Columbia, two nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sara Bell Thoma Rall.

The following information came from Dave Thoma on 28 Mar 2004:

A little more information on my Dad. As you know, his birthdate was December 27, 1929. He went to Wellston High School in St Louis but never graduated - instead going to work to help support his family. He did at a later date obtain his GED. He served in the Korean war - during which I time I believe his father died. After his tour of duty he came back to St Louis, got a job working for Emerson Electric for a few years, then moved onto McDonnell Douglass and stayed there until he retired. He currently loves riding a motorcycle (which I can't figure out - but more power to him. He's only had two minor accidents - so he's been pretty lucky so far).

He married the former Carole Anne Walsh (DOB 07/24/1935) on August 17, 1957. They lived in an apartment for a couple of years, then moved into a house in Overland, Missouri in the early 60's. Its the house they still live in. Their first child (David Eugene Thoma, Jr - me) was born on July 4, 1962. Their second child - a daughter (Diane Marie Thoma) was born on December 16, 1963. Diane attended All Souls Catholic grade school and graduated from Ritenour Senior High School in 1981. Diane married Frank Lockhart and currently resides in south St Louis County. They have no children.

I'm a little more difficult. I also attended All Souls - graduated from DeSmet Jesuit High School in 1980 and graduated from St Louis University in 1984 with a degree in accounting. I married my first wife (Ruth Ann White - DOB June 10, 1953) on September 26, 1986. Our first daughter (Meghann Elizabeth) was born on June 28, 1987. She is currently living in Overland (St Louis County, MO) and is completing her junior year of high school at Ritenour Senior High. She works part-time at the St Louis County Library. Our second daughter (Jessica Lee Thoma) was born on November 20, 1989 and is also currently residing in Overland and is attending the Ritenour School District. She will be a sophomore next year.

After we married, Ruth and I bought a home in St Peters, MO in 1987. We moved from there to Sacramento, CA in January, 1990 and moved again to Boiling Springs, PA in January, 1991. Ruth and I separated in 1994 - at which time she moved back to St Louis. I followed, returning to St Louis in 1995. We are still friends and have a better relationship now that we're divorced. Ruth remarried very briefly in 2001 - but soon after had the marriage annulled.

I married Shelly Lyn Lakas in December, 1996. We lived in St Ann, MO - then bought a home in O'Fallon, MO. There were no children from that marriage - which ended in March, 2002.

I moved to Phoenix, AZ in August, 2003 to be with my girlfriend (though at our age, that's kind of a strange title). I am currently working as a supervisor for a sales company.
