Earl William Twenter, 96, of Pilot Grove, MO passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
He was born March 29, 1926, at Meadow Brook farm in Clear Creek, MO, the son of Bernard T. and Rose (Larm) Twenter, who preceded him in death.
On April 15, 1950, in Spring Fork, MO, he was married to Trudy Lucille Seifner, who resides of the home. Earl and Trudy made their home on Meadow Brook Century Farm for over 72 years. They farmed and raised six children while being active in the community.
Earl was a founding member and served on the Pilot Grove Coop Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Citizens Community Bank for 40 years and on the Pilot Grove C-4 School Board. He was on the Pilot Grove Centennial Executive Committee in 1973. He was an active member of the Pilot Grove Lion’s Club.
Earl was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an active member of the Clear Creek Knights of Columbus for over 77 years. He served as an active Clear Creek 4-H leader, leading Beef and Forestry. He was inducted into the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame in 2017 and honored as the Cooper County Farm Family in 1966. Earl and Trudy also hosted numerous foreign exchange students from India, Japan and Brazil. In addition to his wife of seventy-two years, he is survived by five children, Cheryl (Frank) Reuter, Candy (Randy) Schlotzhauer, Cindy (David) Lang, Noel (Carol) Twenter, and Chrysa (Terry) Lorenz; daughter-in-law, Marcia Twenter; one sister, Doris Bock (Leroy); thirteen grandchildren, Aaron Reuter, Bradley (Staci) Reuter, Justin (Sarah) Schlotzhauer, Brandy Schlotzhauer Skaggs (Derek), Alexander & Anderson Twenter, Rochelle Lang, Clayton Lang, Stacia Twenter Felgar, Shane (Amanda) Twenter, Dylan Twenter, Cassandra Lorenz Denomme (Brad), and McKalie Lorenz.; and eighteen greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bernard Theodore (Ted) Twenter and four sisters, Mildred Warnhoff, Esther Bockelman, Viola Fairfax, and Bessie Jean Bock. Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clear Creek, MO with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Anthony Onyeihe, officiating. Casket bearers will be grandsons. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John’s Cemetery Association or St. Joseph Catholic School, in care of the Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.
