John Wilbur Lang was the son of George W. Lang and Minnie (Vollmer) Lang. He graduated from Pilot Grove High School in 1952. John joined the U.S. Army and served his time in El Paso, Texas. He married Anita M. Hartman in Tipton, Missouri, May 17, 1955 and they are the parents of five children. John farmed his entire life in the Blackwater- Lamine area. He was very active in his community, serving on the Blackwater School Board for nine years and as Road Commissioner for the Blackwater-Lamine Special Road District. John was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Boonville Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Laura Patterson, his brothers, Leonard and Edward Lang, and his sister, Edith Grissum. He is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, two sisters, his son-in-law, nine grandchildren and a great-grandson. He died at University Hospital in Columbia.
