  May have been born in Boellenborn, Rheinpfalz, Bavaria (later a part of Prussia) and one of the four adjacent villages in Rheinpfalz, Bavaria where the family has been located. John Lutz believes, but can not confirm, that Nicholas (the younger), Joannes George, and Matthaeus may have all come to St Louis sometime before 1850.
