- Mrs. George (Pauline) Ferrin, 82 of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997 at 3 AM at the Countryside Estates following a two-year illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, at 2 PM at the Boothby funeral home in Cherokee. Rev. Gary Armstrong will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 PM at the funeral home on Thursday. Visitation will be all day today at the Boothby funeral home with the family president of 630 to 8 PM. Mrs. Ferrin was born Sept. 10, 1914 on a farm near Odebolt, Iowa to Ralph and Edith Perrott Manly. She graduated from Early consolidated high school and graduated from Buena Vista college with the degree in elementary education. On June 12, 1952 she married George Ferrin in Strom Lake, Iowa. She taught elementary education for 34 years, five years at West side, eight years at LeMars, and 21 years at Meriden-Cleghorn. She retired in 1976 and has had been a president of Cherokee the past 44 years. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Carnation chapter No. 165, order of Eastern star, the United Methodist women and was a former Regent of DAR. Survivors include her husband, George, a stepdaughter: Sharon and her husband Dale Sudtelgte Remsen, Iowa, two stepsons: Dale Ferrin and his wife Janet, Smithfield, Missouri and Daniel Ferrin, Menomonie, Wisconsin; 12 step grandchildren 14 step great-grandchildren and one brother Ron Manly and his wife Dortha of Moville, Iowa and one sister Vivian Schriner of Elmhurst, Illinois.
