  From Central Missouri Republican of 27 Aug 1903 E. G. Thoma is much pleased over the result of his exhibit of barred Plymouth Rock chickens at the State Fair at Sedalia last week. He had eight birds there and won two blue and two red ribbons and the cash premiums that accompanied them. he was awarded first and second on pullet and the same on cockerel. the competition was very strong, there being birds from some seven different states.
