educated at school in Coburg, the University of Wittenberg ( 1554 ) and the University of Jena ( 1555 ),
Scholarship until Easter 1558, ordained in Jena 1557, subscribed in 1562, [ accepted the ] decl. Vict. [ Declaratio Victorini, the Latin title of Victorinus Strigel’s defense of the views of Philipp Melanchthon, the “good guy” of the Reformation, against the views of Matthias Flacius, the “bad guy” - Maximilian Mörlin was a supporter of Strigel and his Declaration ] with reservations 1559 - 1565

Notes : also Dieterich, Dietterich, Theodoricus, Dietz, Jacobus, Jakobus. Ordered to Weimar in October 1568 with the Declaratio Victorini, on leave for Christmas, repudiated his wife, because of “the horrors”, on 24 November 1558 at the request of the Council, [ but allowed to ] stay in office ( in grace ) until March 1569. Visitation of 1577 : not an awkward man. But the congregation [ complained that he did ] preach the Word of GOD but he was cancelled out by, in addition of [ telling ] disgraceful stories and fables from Aesop and also [ dealing ] with blasphemous things, falling out with [ his ] patrons and parishoners, partly because of the surliness of the pastor’s wife, a sister of Maximilian Mörlin. Visitation of 1582 : pious, god-fearing, ancient. Successor called as early as 6 October 1596.

Jacob Dietrich. In the same tradition [ = “according to the Visitation of 1577” ] he came here in the Year of the Christ ’75 ; but because a disagreement arose between him and the noble, he was transferred to Bodnitz.

4. Jacob Dietrich. In the year 1537 he was ordained in Jena as Deacon for Römhild, and then was appointed as Deacon in Jena for almost five years, then the Pastor of Ezdorff in Meißen for 4-1/2 years. He was afterwards recalled to Jena, and continued for two years there. Furthermore, in Altendorf he signed in the year ’75 the Formula of Concord, and finally came to Bodnitz. However, when that did not abate for a long time, he was called in the year 1582 to the Parish of Unter-Oppurgi, where the septuagenarian died in 1586.
