| 1501 | Christian Brück (Latinized Pontanus) (* around 1516 in Wittenberg; † April 18, 1567 in Gotha) was a politician and Saxon chancellor, since 1543 married to Barbara Cranach, daughter of Lucas Cranach the Elder. The mother of the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe comes from this line, so that Lucas Cranach is the great-great-grandfather of Goethe. Christian Brück was born as the son of Chancellor Gregor Brück around 1516 in Wittenberg. He was accepted into the Wittenberg University in the summer semester of 1532. He continued his studies with Philipp Melanchthon on the Elbe in Bologna (Italy), where he stayed until 1542. Returning to Wittenberg, he obtained his legal doctorate on February 5, 1543 and in the same year married Barbara Cranach, a daughter of the painter Lucas Cranach the Elder. Ä., Who received a dowry of 5,000 guilders from her father. In Wittenberg he initially worked as a private scholar and teacher and in 1543 became counselor and servant of Elector Johann Friedrich I (1503–1554). As a result of the Schmalkaldic War (1546/47), he fled Wittenberg with his wife and child to Braunschweig. From Braunschweig he went to Nordhausen in June 1547, where he had been court counselor since 1550 on the recommendation of his father and was appointed chancellor of Johann Friedrich II the Middle (1529–1595) at his court in Gotha in 1555. However, the trust placed in him disappointed Brück, and his government aroused offense and hostility everywhere. He had to atone for his involvement in the deal of the knight Wilhelm von Grumbach with his execution by dividing into four on April 18, 1567 in Gotha. Because of the Handel against his brother-in-law Christian Brück, Barbara's brother Lucas Cranach the Younger withdrew from all of his own political activities. Barbara Cranach survived her husband and was only able to save her marriage property with great difficulty. Their daughter Barbara, who married Jacob Schröter (1529–1613), Mayor of Weimar, has an ancestral line to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe on his mother's side. The daughter Elisabeth was married to the councilor and cloth maker in Weimar Caspar Koch, whose father had become mayor of Weimar in 1535. The grandfather's first name Christian was continued by Elisabeth's son Christian, who was baptized on July 23, 1596 in Weimar. The memory of Christian Brück and his involvement in the Grumbachian Handel is still alive in Gotha in the legend "The Three Evil Omen". After that, Brück played with a pumpkin during the siege of Gotha in the spring of 1567, threw it up several times and caught it again. In the process, however, the pumpkin broke into four parts in his hands. According to the legend, this was interpreted by intelligent people as a bad omen for Brück's fate, which was fulfilled only a few weeks later when he was quartered (!). | 1503 | Christine Friederike [Prass] Stomberger was born in the village of Grossgarnstadt, Germany. She married Pankratz Bancroft Stomberger (then spelled Stammberger) on May 10, 1846. Her Brother, John Andrew Prass married Margaretha Stammberger, her husband's sister. Their first two children were born in Germany before their immigration to America in the summer of 1854, a voyage that took six weeks. Upon arrival in New York City, they boarded a train for Dayton, Ohio, where other family members awaited. Within a short time, they had relocated to Brookville. Pankratz and Christine were German Lutherans, but were known to have become members of the German Baptist Church on Wolf Creek Pike. She was the Mother of six children.....Anna Margaretha Stomberger (1847-1872), Anna Barbara [Stomberger] Hemberger (1851-1936), Paul Stomberger (1854-1944), Theodore Stomberger (1858-1859), Anna Augusta [Stomberger] Lehman (1861-1929), and John Levit Stomberger (1863-1948). After the death of her husband in 1880, Christine lived in a log cabin on a small tract of land on the North edge of Brookville. She sold milk and eggs and was self-supporting. In later years, her youngest daughter also came to live with her after the death of her own husband in 1896. | 1506 | Chrotrude's parentage has never been positively confirmed. She was either the daughter of Lambert of Hesbaye, or the daughter of Leudwin of Treves - see Wikipedia article. Rotrude (Chrodtrudis) (or Crotude, Chrotrude, or Ruadtrud; died 724) was the first wife of Charles Martel, Mayor of the Palace and de facto ruler of Francia from 718 to 741. She was the mother of Pepin the Short, King of the Franks, and therefore the grandmother of Charlemagne. Rotrude is believed to be the daughter of Lambert, Count of Hesbaye Rotrude and Charles had five children: Carloman, Mayor of the Palace Pepin the Short, King of the Franks and father of Charlemagne Hiltrude, Duchess Consort of Bavaria, married to Odilo, Duke of Bavaria Landrade Auda of France, married to Thierry IV, Count of Autun. After Rotrude’s death in 724, Charles married Swanachild and had one child Grifo. Charles also had a mistress Ruodhaid with whom he had numerous children. The only indication of Chrotrud's family membership arises from the information that Wido, lay abbot of Saint-Wandrille († executed 739), a close relative, propinquus, was Karl Martell's. Wido is mentioned as early as 715 as the brother of Bishop Milo of Trier and Reims and as the son of St. Liutwin. If one translates propinquus as brother-in-law and relates the connection to Chrotrud, she becomes a daughter of Liutwin and a member of the Widonen. This line of thought was published by Anton Halbedel in 1915 and has since been taken up several times, but it is only a h y p o t h e s i s . Traditionally, the information available about the family background of Rotrude was the indication that Wido (Guy), Count of Hornbach and Lay Abbot of Fontenelle, was a propinquus of Martel. This kinship term, vague enough, means a close relationship with women: a brother, a cousin by women or a cousin by marriage. Wido is the brother of Milo, Bishop of Trier, and son of Saint Leudwinus, Bishop of Trier. Christian Settipani, in his work on the ancestors of Charlemagne, details an analysis by Anton Halbedel, first issued in 1915, and echoed by historians Joseph Depoin, Maurice Chaume and Szabolcs de Vajay. According to this analysis, the word propinquus implies "brother", so that Wido was Rotrude’s brother. Rotrude has therefore often been identified as the daughter of Saint Leudwinus. However, in Settipani’s Addendum to the Ancestors of Charlemagne,[1] he returns to this problem, reflecting thoughts of the medieval history professor Richard Gerberding, who believed that Rotrude’s background was related directly to the Robertians. He noted that Charles Martel had three wives and that Wido may be a relative of the other two. Settipani concludes that Rotrude was the daughter of Lambert, Count of Hesbaye, and so sister of Robert I, Duke of Neustria. In addition, Rotrude’s sister was named Landrada and was married to Sigramnus, Count of Hesbaye. Landrada and Sigramnus were parents of Saint Chrodegang, Bishop of Metz. He is survived by his son, Joseph (Brenda) Lammers of St. Charles, Missouri; daughter, Julee (David) Loesche; sisters, Thelma (Delphinus, deceased) Kraus, Jeanette (Henry, deceased) Stegner and brother David (Nancy) Lammers; grandchildren, Jacob Loesche (Hannah Seaman) of Plymouth, Massachusetts; Erica (Reagan) Wallace of Los Angeles, California; sisters-in-law, Joan Lammers and Barbara Lammers and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Lammers, to whom he was married for 65 years; parents Richard and Florence Lammers; brothers, Kenneth Lammers; Richard Lammers; sister, Alice (Phillip) Templemire. Clarence was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served proudly from 1953 - 1955. He began his career at the C.J. Harris Lumber Company in Pilot Groove, Missouri, eventually moving to the St. Louis area. He worked for 42 years in the building materials business. He was a member of the ILL - MO Tractor and Engine Club for over 40 years and enjoyed traveling all over the country displaying and trading his gasoline engines. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a great story teller. Clarence dearly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Visitation for Clarence will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 19 . Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on November 20 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor John Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Clarence Loesing was born in Cooper County, March 5, 1923 the son of Bruno Loesing and Stella Turner Loesing. Clarence proudly served his country during WW II with the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific theatre on the aircraft carrier USS Cowpens. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW post. He married Margie Allen April 9, 1950 in California, MO and they are the parents of five children. Clarence was a family man and a respected farmer in the Boonville area his entire life. He served on numerous agricultural related boards. He was an active and devout member of the Lutheran church. His free time, while limited, was spent enjoying his family and friends. Mr. Loesing was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, J.B, Estil and Edward Loesing. He is survived by his wife, Margie, of the home; his children, Tom (Gina) Loesing of Boonville, James (Cathie) Loesing of Columbia, Pam Loesing, Patty Loesing and Martha (Pete) Friesen, all of St. Louis, MO. Burial will follow in Old Lamine Cemetery. Clarence Ray Widel was born March 27, 1938, in Blackwater, Missouri, the son of AR and Kathryn (Boulware) Widel. Clarence married the love of his life Barbara Dietzel June 25, 1959, in California, Missouri. Clarence farmed until 1985 then they moved to Boonville where he began working at MFA Tire and Oil Division until 1999. He then went to work for Helmreich’s Farm Supply hauling grain until he retired. Clarence was a faithful member in his home-based church for many years and a steady example of living for eternity. Clarence always made the best of life, always had a smile, and never complained, he will be dearly missed. Clarence is preceded in death by his parents AR and Kathryn Widel, daughter-in-law Shelia Widel, and brother Raymond Widel. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara Widel, sons Jimmy (Tina) Widel of Indianapolis, IN, Dennis (Marcia) Widel of Hope, AR, and Roger Widel of Nelson, MO, daughter Beverly Arth of Boonville, MO, sister-in-law Mildred Widel of Sedalia, MO, and sister Joy Widel of Boonville, MO.
